Rod Tubes.
Real Sound.
Experimental vacuum-tube synthesizers and original electronic music — built and created by hand.
A place where unusual electronic instruments and the music made with them belong together.
Electroserf has two sides. One is the laboratory: miniature Soviet rod tubes, analogue circuits and experimental synthesizer hardware. The other is the music: original electronic compositions and the sounds these machines were built to make.
Rod-Tube Synthesis
Miniature Soviet vacuum tubes pressed into service as oscillators, filters, amplifiers and other building blocks for electronic instruments.

Original Music
The other half of Electroserf: original electronic music, recordings and videos — because eventually all those circuits ought to make some music.

Build the instrument.
Explore the sound.
For me, electronic design and music aren't separate hobbies. The interesting part is the path from an odd circuit idea, through a working piece of hardware, to a sound that suggests something musical.
The rod-tube synthesizer work is an ongoing experiment in exactly that process.
The laboratory makes the instruments. The studio finds out what they have to say.
What is Electroserf?
A personal laboratory for vacuum-tube synthesizer design, experimental electronics and original electronic music.
